Real Estate Agent Resume
Brutally Roasted
You price the house, host the open house on Sunday, talk the buyer down after the inspection and still close on time. Your resume says 'helped clients buy and sell homes.' The broker reading it has a license that says the same thing.

Common Mistakes on Real Estate Agent Resumes
The patterns that keep turning up, and why they cost you the call.
- 01
No production numbers. Transactions closed, sales volume, and the split between buyer and listing sides are how brokers size up an agent, and they are missing.
- 02
License details left out: state, license type and year, and the brokerage you work under. A sales associate or salesperson license and a broker license are different, and both are issued by the state.
- 03
'Realtor' used loosely. It means membership in the National Association of Realtors, not the license itself, so list them separately.
- 04
Market and niche unstated: first-time buyers, luxury, new construction, relocation, investors, a specific set of neighborhoods. The team hiring you has a gap and wants to know if you fill it.
- 05
Lead generation hidden. Where your business came from (past clients, referrals, open houses, online leads) matters to a team lead deciding whether you can generate your own deals.
What Sales Reviewers Check First
Generic resume advice averages every field together. This is what someone hiring for this one actually looks for.
Production. Closed sides, sales volume and average price tell a broker or team lead what kind of business you already do.
How you get business. Teams want to know whether you generate your own leads, convert leads they hand you, or both.
License status and local knowledge. Moving across state lines usually means getting licensed in the new state, so say where you stand, and show you know the neighborhoods they work.
One Real Estate Agent Bullet, Rewritten
The advice above, applied to one typical line.
Before
Helped clients buy and sell homes, conducted showings, and negotiated contracts.
After
Florida sales associate with 34 closed sides and $12.1M in volume in 2025, 60% listings. Listings sold at 98.7% of list price on average and spent 19 days on market against a 41-day MLS average for the county, and 55% of the year's business came from past clients and referrals.
The first line describes the license. The rewrite gives production, the buyer and listing mix, pricing and speed against the local market, and where the business comes from, which is what a broker or team lead is screening for.

Sample Roast Lines for Real Estate Agents
The kind of lines the roast writes for this role. Yours will be about whatβs actually on your resume.
β'Passionate about helping families find their dream home' is the bio on half the agent websites in the county. How many families, and at what price?β
βYou list 'negotiation' as a skill and give no list-to-sale price ratio. The MLS has the number. Go look.β
β'Top producer' with no production. Top of what, and who ranked you?β
How to Fix Your Real Estate Agent Resume
Specific moves that actually move the grade.
- β
Lead with the license and the year's production: 'Florida sales associate since 2019, 31 closed sides and $11.4M volume in 2025.'
- β
Split buyer and listing sides and give the averages: average sale price, list-to-sale price ratio, average days on market against the local MLS figure.
- β
Say where the business came from: the share from past clients and referrals, open houses held, online leads converted, so a team lead sees how you find deals.
- β
Name the tools: your MLS, your CRM (Follow Up Boss, kvCORE, Lofty), dotloop or SkySlope for transactions, and any marketing you produced yourself.
- β
List designations with years: ABR, SRS, SRES, CRS, GRI, e-PRO, and any team or brokerage awards with the ranking criteria stated.

Roast My Real Estate Agent Resume For FreeReal Estate Agent Resume Questions
How do I write a real estate resume with no closings yet?
Lead with the license, the year you earned it and the brokerage you are with, plus any sales or service work that shows you can talk to strangers and follow up. Add the activity you can count: open houses held, buyer consultations, leads worked. Be plain about being new rather than padding.
Should I list my commission income on my resume?
Gross commission income can help when you are applying to a team or brokerage, since it measures the business you bring. Give it alongside sides and volume, and only use figures you can document, because a broker can ask to see the closing records.
Is a Realtor the same as a real estate agent?
No. A real estate agent holds a state license to help people buy and sell property and works under a broker. Realtor is a trademark for members of the National Association of Realtors, who agree to its code of ethics. List the license first and the membership separately.
