Watch a recruiter read your resume in six seconds.

You've heard recruiters spend six seconds on a resume. This is what those six seconds look like on yours: where the eyes stop, what they think, and the best lines they never get to.

Free, no account. Your resume is read once to make the replay and not stored.

Where the six seconds come from

Eye-tracking studies of recruiters (Ladders’ 2012 study found about six seconds on the first pass; its 2018 update measured 7.4) show the same pattern again and again. The replay follows that pattern on your actual resume.

The order the eyes move in

Name first, as an anchor. Then the current job title, the company, the dates. Then the previous role, to check you’re moving up. Education last for anyone experienced. Most first passes never reach the bottom half of the page. The full breakdown is in the 6-second resume test.

Why the missed lines matter most

The part that stings is the end: the strongest evidence on most resumes (a number, a result, a big name) sits fourth or fifth under a job, where the first pass never goes. Moving one of those lines into the first bullet of your current role is the cheapest fix there is. The free roast grades the rest of the page.

It's a simulation, and it says so

No camera is tracking anyone. An AI reads your resume, picks the stops the research pattern predicts, and writes what a recruiter would think at each one. It’s a fast, honest picture of how the page reads at a glance, not a measurement of any particular recruiter.

Questions people ask

Is this real eye tracking?

No. It's a simulation. An AI reads your resume and picks the stops that recruiter eye-tracking studies predict (name, current title, company, dates, previous role, education), then writes what a recruiter would think at each one. It's a picture of how your page reads at a glance, not a measurement.

Do you store my resume?

Not for this tool. The text is read once to make the replay and sent back to your browser. If you start the replay from your roast page, it uses the copy we already hold for 24 hours after a roast, and only from the browser that made that roast.

Is the video safe to post?

With the default setting, yes: your name is blacked out and emails, phone numbers and links are hidden before anything is drawn. Untick the box only if you want your name in it. Read the video before posting either way.

Why does it say my best line was never seen?

Because that's the most common result. The strongest evidence on most resumes sits several bullets down, and the first pass rarely gets there. Move that line to the first bullet of your current role and run the replay again.
