CV roast questions
Is a CV the same thing as a resume here?
For this tool, yes. In the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and most of Europe, 'CV' is the ordinary word for the one-to-two-page document you send with a job application — what Americans call a resume. The roaster reads either; on this page it's told to judge by your market's conventions.
Will it mark me down for a two-page CV?
No. The homepage roast is calibrated for US norms, where one page is the default. Uploading here tells the roaster that two pages is the standard length in your market, so length only gets roasted if the second page is padding.
What about a photo, date of birth, or marital status?
Those will get roasted, and they should. They're still common on CVs in some markets, but recruiters in the UK, Ireland, and Australia increasingly see them as dated and a discrimination-law headache. Continental European employers vary on photos; everything else is safe to cut everywhere.
Does it work with a Europass CV?
Paste the text or upload the PDF and it works. Be warned that the roaster tends to have opinions about the Europass format itself.
Is it actually free?
