Nurse Resume Example
A mid-level med-surg RN with seven years at the bedside, a compact license, charge shifts and an Epic super-user role, aiming for step-down.
A fictional resume written by our team. The person, employers and numbers are invented; the tools, licenses and schools are real.
Why it works
- 1
“Med-surg telemetry RN, 7 years, charge 2 shifts a week on a 32-bed unit at a 1:5 ratio. Arizona multistate (NLC) license, PCCN, Epic super-user. Precepted 11 new graduates.”
Opens with unit type, bed count and ratio, which is how a nurse manager measures experience, then the license and certifications.
- 2
“Charge nurse 2 shifts a week on a 32-bed med-surg telemetry unit, 1:5 ratio, 6 RNs and 3 techs per shift”
States the operational picture of the shift: unit, size, ratio and the team being run.
- 3
“Falls committee member, added bed alarm audits to hourly rounding, falls fell from 4.1 to 2.6 per 1,000 patient days”
Uses the quality measure the unit is actually scored on, per 1,000 patient days, not a vague 'improved safety.'
- 4
“Epic super-user for the 2023 Rover barcode scanning rollout, trained 38 nurses, scan compliance from 88% to 98%”
Says what was done in Epic, not just that Epic was used. Super-user work shortens onboarding, which managers screen for.
- 5
“Piloted bedside shift report on nights, HCAHPS nurse communication rose from 71% to 80% over 2 quarters”
Ties a specific practice change to the patient survey score hospitals are paid on.
How it scored
We ran this example through the same free roast you can use, three times, and kept the middle result. The roast ranks a resume against a typical applicant pile and grades hard: even a resume with a number in nearly every bullet usually lands in the B range.

Use it as a skeleton, then replace every line with your own work. A copied bullet with someone else's numbers is the fastest way to fail an interview question.
